Cancer Recovery & Rehabilitation Programme

A structured, exercise-led programme supporting people to rebuild strength, confidence and capacity before, during or after cancer treatment.

Stronger Foundations is an 8-week guided programme designed to support people at different stages of their cancer journey through safe, effective movement, education and ongoing support.

The programme works alongside the participant’s existing clinical care, providing practical support between appointments and helping people take an active role in maintaining or rebuilding their physical and emotional capacity.

The programme provides

  • Individualised exercise planning and progression

  • Supervised, small-group exercise sessions

  • Support with strength, mobility, balance and physical conditioning

  • Fatigue and energy-management education

  • Guidance around sleep, nutrition and sustainable recovery habits

  • Nervous system regulation and restorative practices

  • Ongoing support to improve confidence, engagement and adherence

Our whole-person approach recognises that recovery is influenced by more than physical fitness alone. The programme brings together movement, education and practical self-management support within a safe and supportive community setting.

Who may benefit?

Stronger Foundations may be suitable for adults who are:

  • Preparing to begin cancer treatment

  • Currently receiving treatment

  • Recovering following treatment

  • Living with the ongoing effects of cancer or its treatment

  • Experiencing reduced strength, confidence, mobility or physical capacity

  • Looking for structured support to return to safe and appropriate movement

All participants complete a health and readiness assessment before joining. Exercise is adapted to the individual’s treatment stage, symptoms, current capacity and clinical guidance.

The first eight-week programme will begin September 2026 at The MAT Clinic in Ampthill.
